A long overdue update!

My apologies for my long absence in blogland! My computer and blogger have been giving me fits and not allowing me to post. We had a very busy fall/winter. Things are just now starting to slow down a bit although that will change in three weeks when Justin flies to Vegas to see his dad and the boys and I fly to PA to see my parents! Since my last post Justin has gotten the year end reconciliation for the centers done, renewed his real estate license and started a trading course. He did take off over our fifth wedding anniversary in February. It's hard to believe we have been married five years! It seems like yesterday that I was walking down the isle and then my thoughts are interupted by our two beautiful boys screams and I realize that it has been a wonderful journey these past five years!:) Evan is a chatterbox these days as he picks up new words almost daily. Still our mild mannered cuddle bug! Bryce is growing up way to quickly for this Mamma! He is in 12 month clothes and just cut his first tooth this past week. He is such a happy little guy and always has a smile for anyone who talks to him. He loves his brother and Evan loves the fact that he can make Bryce laugh more quickly than anyone. We are doing great and loving life! God has been so good to us and we are more grateful than words can express!

Blogger is not allowing me to upload photos right now, so as soon as I post this I will upload via Picasa! We are doing well. Bryce had his two month check up and weighed in at 13lb 10oz and was 25in long. He is such a pleasant baby and smiles very easily! He is up once at night for a bottle. Overall his stomach is much improved. I think given time he will outgrow his reflux much more quickly than Evan did. Evan is doing great! He keeps us on our toes! He is trying really hard to talk and is actually saying a lot more understandable words. We are amazed at how many words he knows the meanings too. His favorite new thing is the movie Cars! At least once a day he asks to watch it. Justin celebrated his 29th birthday on Sept 17. We ended up going to Outback with family and friends on Sat. Aterwards the kids went with Grandpa and Grandma and we went bowling with friends. We had a great time! I am still looking for a part time job that provides insurance. Nothing yet, but hopefully in the next month or so I'll find something.

Almost Two Months Old!

I can't believe it's almost been a month since I last posted! Time sure has been flying by! It seems like I posted the last bit of information a little to soon. Shortly after that post Bryce started showing signs of stomach discomfort. We switched him to the formula we had used for Evan (a reduced lactose formula for reflux babies) and things seemed to improve for a week or so. Then he was having some more symptoms. At that point we decided to try a soy formula which was a disaster! After a VERY rough 24 hours we gave him a lactose free formula made for reflux babies. Still not convinced it is reflux. I'm thinking it was a lactose and soy intolerance with SLIGHT reflux. The reason I emphasized that was because the pediatrician feels the reflux is the main issue and the intolerance a secondary issue. Anyway, to make a long story short he is doing much better on the new formula and medicine. Not a 100 percent, but much improved. Bryce had his one month check up August 13 and he weighed 11 pounds and was 23 inches long! So, he is growing fabulously! Unlike Evan, he eats through the pain so he is gaining weight just fine. He sleeps about 5-6 hours straight at night and is still only awake for about 6 hours of the day. He is smiling a lot although I still haven't managed to catch it on camera! Where is the camera when you need it!? Evan is doing great with the adjustment and is a huge help to Mommy. He likes to help me with the dishes and laundry as well as picking up. He's starting to really become independent and wants to dress and undress himself. He keeps us busy, but we don't mind. Below this post are four new posts with pictures. Blogger has not been allowing me to upload photos so I have to use Picasa. Sorry about the many posts! We are doing great! All of us are adjusting well I think. My parents arrived the day after we got home from the hospital and were here for 10 days. That in and of itself was a HUGE blessing! They really helped with Evan and kept Bryce at night so Justin and I were able to get some much needed sleep. We loved having you guys here and really miss you! We love you! Evan has had a little rough spell since they've been gone since he isn't getting the undivided attention he's been used to for two years. He went around the house looking for Grandma and Pappy the first day or so. He really has accepted Bryce well even though he is acting out when he doesn't get his way. When Bryce cries Evan brings him a car as if that will fix everything and he gives Bryce the sweetest kisses! My brother Jonathan and his wife and son were here for a weekend and we had a great time. Tyler and Evan are 11 months apart and it was so neat to watch them play together. Evan just folled Tyler's lead, it was so cute! Bryce is eating 3-4 ounces every three hours during the day and sleeps for 4-6 hour streches at night. He has been an easy baby so far. No signs of reflux at this point which we are very thankful for! At the pediatrician appointment when he was 5 days old he weighed 7lbs 15ozs. It seems we are not going to have trouble getting him to gain weight like we did with Evan!:) I feel great and have since several days after giving birth. We are learning how to juggle two kids and their needs fairly well I'd say.

Bryce Gavin Harris was born yesterday at 12:58pm. He weights 7 lb 12 oz and 20 in long. He is a very good baby and we have hardly heard anything out of him. Thankfully I had a much easier and quicker labor. Evan was in to see him last and pretty much just ignored him. When we asked Evan where his little brother was he pointed to Bryce. We are very anxious to get home!

Tomorrow evening I am being admitted to the hospital. They will begin some meds tomorrow evening, but start the main induction at 6am Wednesday morning. We are hoping for a smooth and quick labor this time. I will try and take a few pics of my very pregnant belly tonight for those of you who are curious as to how big I got. We will post as quickly as possible after Bryce joins us. Pray that we all adjust quickly to this new little guy and that things would go smoothly on Wednesday.

On June 24th we took him to Busch Gardens. It was his first time there and he loved it! We only stayed for a few hours, but we all had a great time.

I know I have not been very faithful at keeping this blog updated the past few months, so I thought I would take some time and post pictures of what we have been up to the last few months! In April we spent a week in CO with Justin's family. We had a great time and with the exception of hating the snow suit, Evan loved sledding and playing in the snow. The day before we were scheduled to leave one of the biggest snow storms of the year hit CO. Needless to say, it caused quite some excitement and we left our resort a day early. We spent the last night in Denver and it's a good thing we did because two hours after we left they closed the interstate that leads from Breckenridge to Denver! They got around 30 some inches in the mountains and while beautiful, it made for treacherous driving! In other news, I am now 34 weeks pregnant. Other than some Braxton Hicks I haven't felt too bad. We are scheduled for a July 8th induction. That means we will be having Bryce ten days early. The only thing that will change that is if my blood pressure gets too high and we have to have him earlier. We are naming him Bryce Gavin for all those who were wondering. May was a busy month with Evan having his first "major" illness. It hit him Mother Day and was not a fun week and a half. We ended up giving him his first antibiotic which he responded very well too. He had croup and so he and Mommy spent quite a few nights with very little sleep. Croup always worsens at night, but after two days on the medicine he was sleeping much better. In just a few short weeks our little man will be turning 2. It's so hard for me to believe! He is such a happy little guy and turning into quite the "ham"! He is really trying to talk in sentences, but you can still only understand a word here and there. Justin and I have both had quite a bit of work lately which is keeping us on our toes. I'm so looking forward to a break when one of my best friends from teenage years comes down for a week. She will be arriving June 8. This may be the last post for a while as it looks like June is completely packed. Not the restful month I thought I would have before welcoming a new baby! Oh well, for those who know me well, it's my kind of thing!

It's A....... Boy!

We found out Wednesday of this past week that our new little one is a BOY! This makes grandson number 6 for Mom and Dad! He looks very healthy and measures 5-6 days ahead of my due date (July 18). He was very cooperative for the ultrasound and seemed to be showing off. The tech was impressed with all the pictures she got and the fact that she was able to check everything out. It's kind of humorous that before the appointment we asked Evan if he wanted a girl and he said No. When we asked him if he wanted a boy he smiled really big and just sighed! Not that he has any clue but, when we ask him where the baby is he comes over and kisses my belly! He has learned recently to give kisses and has turned into quite the cuddle bug. He is growing up so fast! He has a very broad vocabulary and is really trying to talk in sentences. Normally you can only understand one or two words but, he does try. Here are some recent pictures of me at 23 weeks and our visit to the zoo. Evan really seemed to enjoy it. We even got to feed the giraffe which was very cool.

I trust everyone had a blessed Christmas! I know I enjoyed every second I got to spend with my family! I know this post is long over due, but what can I say. I am rejoining life after being very ill since the middle of November. For good reason I might add! We are expecting our second child in July. A HUGE surprise, but a welcome one! I will try and put updated pictures and news in the following weeks. Evan has grown up so much it's hard to believe. Hopefully as the morning sickness eases I will get back to posting regularly!

Well, there is a good reason why I have not been blogging lately. Our condo is officially up for sale! I have been packing and reorganizing everything we own. The realtor wanted us to move everything we don't use on a daily basis into storage. She recommended we only keep 12 outfits here, but with the market being the way it is we are not expecting to sell in a few weeks time. I'm still amazed at how two people and a little person can accumulate so much stuff! We have a 5X10 storage unit FULL! The place does look much bigger though. Evan liked to "help" Mommy pack. He was so cute. He would bring his toys and put it into the box I was working on and then look at me and smile. So proud of himself! He is doing great! Saying more and more words all the time. When I take him to the park now he immediately searches for other kids to play with. Today there was a little boy about 4 years old that really took an interest in Evan. Evan had a blast following him around and trying to do everything the older boy was doing. The elderly neighbor man I was taking care of passed away on Sunday. We have been hanging out with his wife some because she has been so lonely and unsure of what to do with herself. She cared for him for so long she doesn't quite know what to do with her time. Also, this past Sunday we were able to have Tim and Sharron (Sherman) Teed in our home for the day. I went to Hobe Sound with Sharron. They are Fed-Ex truckers and were going to be in Tampa for the weekend. It was so nice having them here! We had a lot of fun! I forgot to take any picture. Other than that we haven't been up to much else. We are loving the cooler fall weather that has started here in FL!

15 Month Check-up and Updated Pictures

Evan had his 15 month 2 week check-up yesterday. He is 33 inches long and weighs 23 pounds. He hasn't gained any weight since his last appointment but he grew 3 inches. The doctor said he looks very healthy and is surprised at the fact that Evan hasn't really ever had more than a mild cold. He was impressed with all the words Evan can say and how well he listens when given directions. It was one of those days where when I said "Come here please" Evan immediately responded. I wish he did that everyday!:) Evan managed to escape any shots as the Hib vaccine is on national shortage and I opted not to have the flu shot or chickenpox vaccine given. Question for all you Mom's who read this blog: Did you give your child(ren) the chickenpox vaccine and why or why not? The pediatrician is really pushing for Evan to have it, but I really don't want him to have it. The research I have done seems inconclusive as to it effectiveness. My theory is that we (my generation) all had it and we made it just fine. The doctor did admit to me that children rarely develop life threatening complications from chickenpox. Anyway, Evan is doing great. He spiked a decent fever last weeks for a few days, but was in a jolly mood and we think it must have just been teeth. He did get a little lethargic with it and was a little cuddlebug. He is running now! Much to Mommy's dismay at moments! Thus the start of scraped knees and fat lips. Yes, he had both this past week! Putting his blankie in his firetruck!

This is very unusual for him. He normally doesn't want to cuddle except when he isn't feeling well or in the middle of the night. I had just gotten him up from his nap and was scratching his back (which he LOVES!). Excuse my fly-away hair!

Marianne and Phillip welcomed Stephen Nathaniel into their lives at 11:40Am. He weighed in at 6lbs 12ozs. Momma and Baby are both doing great. Congratulations to the whole family! I can't wait to see my newest nephew! This will make five grandsons for my parents!:)

Fireproof- A Must See!

Justin and I took a date "night" Friday afternoon and went to see the new movie Fireproof. It was incredible! Maybe some of you have heard or read about it, but Sherwood Baptist Church out of Albany, Georgia has produced this movie along with two others (Flywheel and Facing The Giants). It is so rare for a good Christian movie to come out. I wanted to post this Friday evening, but my computer decided to be stubborn! It is about marriage and the foundation a marriage has to be built on in order to survive. It deals with some issues that I think the church as a whole has overlooked and that is the reasons why so many marriages are falling apart with in the church. There are so many people suffering silently and what better way to reach them. It also presents a clear Salvation message. This post is mainly going to be pictures of the past few weeks. Things are starting to slow down and I am regaining a little of my energy. Since I last blogged Justin celebrated his 28th birthday on Sept. 17. We had a nice dinner out with his family. We actually had a nice time just the two of us the weekend before. It's so hard to surprise him with anything, but I did manage to get tickets to a comedy show without him knowing about it. I have been spending quite a bit of time caring for Dave (the elderly gentleman two condos down from us). He has fallen twice in the past week and ended up with some pretty nasty looking wounds. It's nice to be able to put some of my nursing skills back into action. Evan is his usual happy self. He keeps us on our toes and we love every minute of it! He "talks" a lot more now. I'm amazed at how many words he actually says and know what they mean. Well, for some reason blogger is not letting me post any pictures. I may have to resort to several posts through Picasa or just wait until later to post pictures.

Well, we have welcomed a new member to our family. She is of the four legged kind. Her name is Ginger and she is 12 weeks old. She is a full blooded golden retriever. She was to be a show dog, but the owners little girl was diagnosed with brain cancer and they decided she would be happier as a pet. She will live with Justin's parents until we move into a house. This way she will grow up with Evan and when we move she can come live with us. Ginger has a wonderful personality and seems to have already taken a liking to Evan. Home to meet Daddy!

Ok, so I know a few of you think I dropped off the face of the earth (sorry April, I am trying to do better!), but the truth is I have been to worn out to blog! We are still alive and well. Unfortunately, this post will have to do without pictures because I haven't gotten them uploaded yet! I have been so exhausted lately that I'm napping every time Evan does! I hate it because I can't get anything done. Come to find out my TSH (thyroid) level is high. I had this problem quite a few years ago and was back to normal with Synthroid. I started the medication to day although the doctor warned me it could take two months to straighten out. Other than that I have started helping an elderly man who lives two condos down from us. It's great because I can walk there in under a minute and I can take Evan with me. They love to see Evan and it works well with our schedule. Evan is doing great! He has twelve teeth now. He is really starting to "like" eating. He walks everywhere and tried to run every now and then. We are amazed at the words he can say! He loves to go to the park and seems to enjoy playing with other kids. The past two Sundays, he has been very comfortable in the nursery at church. I was a little anxious about it due to the fact that it's a new church for us, but he seems to be doing great. He took an instant liking to the senior pastor and reached out to be held the first time they met which is very unusual. Justin has been very busy with work lately. We are looking forward to things slowing down in the next few weeks! I'll try and post later this week with pictures, but no promises! Have a wonderful night!

Our Little Man is Growing Up!

It's so hard for me to believe how fast this past year has gone. I can remember crying when my parents where here after Evan's birth and thinking I would spend the rest of my life dead on my feet! Evan has started sleeping through the night the past two weeks. At first I was ecstatic! I'd waited 13 months for this to be a consistent thing. In the past he would go for several nights and then go back to getting up at least once during the night. When I talked with the pediatrician about it he said to just go with it because of the trouble we have getting Evan to eat. When he would get up at night he always took a full bottle. In the past few weeks Evan has really done a lot better as far as eating goes. Some days are a struggle, but nothing compared to what it used to be. Anyway, all that to say, I am really missing him getting up at night! I know, you probably think I'm crazy and have gone off the deep end! Seriously though, as exhausting as it was, those nights are precious memories. Evan is not a real big "cuddle bug". At night that would change. He would lay in my arms and seemed content to stay there forever. As if Momma was the most wonderful thing in the world. I know Evan has to grow up and I really do want him to. It's just the sentimental Momma in me that wishes she could keep that innocence for just a little longer. Each day he becomes a little more independent. We can't wait to see what God has in store for his life! No matter how long I live I will always cherish those nights that we cuddled while I prayed over his little life.

We were watching a clip from America's Got Talent and for some reason Evan really liked this guy. Actually, he likes music in general and does this quite often when music comes on. We thought it was rather funny! The second one is when he was first getting used to walking. He now walks more than he crawls. Usually he doesn't walk with this toy, but for some reason the night I took this video he was pushing it around.

Our Week

It has been rather busy since my last post. Hence the lack of posting! Justin took me to Orlando for 3 days and 2 nights for my birthday. Actually we did it a few days early so Grandma and Grandpa could watch Evan. We had a wonderful, relaxing time! I am so thankful for such a sweet husband. We went bowling, to a movie and miniature golf while we were there. I did manage to take a few pics, but I haven't had time to upload them yet. I also have a bunch of new pics of Evan. He has learned how to climb into his highchair now! I walked out of the kitchen on Tuesday and he was sitting in his chair, pretty as you please! I thought I was losing my mind and that I had left him there until I caught him in the act. I also managed to catch it on video. He now says Dada, Dyda (instead of Daddy), Mama, Nighnigh (for night night) and Na (for no). We are working on drink and bye-bye. He has always been a pleasant baby, but the past two weeks he has started laughing at everything. We'll hear him giggling and go to see what he's laughing at and there is nothing that we can figure out. He's also becoming quite a Daddy's boy. He loves to follow his Daddy around and "help" Daddy with whatever he's working on. Justin has been busy as usual with the shopping centers. They are working on a deal right now with one of the bigger tenants that is in three of the centers. It has been slightly stressful so we are praying that everything resolves and it can quickly be leased. I will try and get the pics and videos uploaded in the next day or so. Have a blessed evening!

Before I forget, Charity (one of my blogging friends) posted the following this past week, "So!!! I'm challenging you as well. You've seen how denigrated men are in our society. I'd like to proclaim a "Praise Your Man in Public" week, and challenge each of you to post a little (or large) post on your blog next week telling us all how privileged you are to be Mr. X's wife. I've seen more than my share of women's groups fall into 'bash your man' groups. And 'if you think that's bad, listen to what MINE did' groups. Ugh! Let's be godly ladies, gals, and raise our man up in the process!" I had eluded to this in my Father's Day post.

Just for the record, I have been blessed beyond measure that God has given me the husband he did. Justin has been a rock in our marriage. He is always willing to say "I'm sorry, please forgive me" or "I was wrong"when he's been wrong. I know I can't always be the easiest person to live with, but he takes things in stride. He loves me for who I am. I appreciate the fact that he takes his responsibility as the spiritual leader in our home so seriously. He leads with a gentleness and humility. He is also an incredible Daddy to Evan as well. It melts my heart to watch him playing with Evan or to hear him tell Evan Bible stories. I love having a husband who is so sensitive to what God wants for him. I could write paragraph after paragraph about Justin. I love you Sweetheart! Thank you for being an awesome Husband and Daddy!

Our Vacation and Evan's One Year Check-up!

Yes, we are still alive! It has been a VERY busy few weeks. Sorry for the numerous posts. Blogger was giving me fits about uploading pictures so I had to use Picasa. Anyway, I tried to get everything in chronological order. We left for PA on June 21 and arrived the 22. My brother Jonathan and his family were there for the first few days of our vacation. On the 24th we had a little "party" for Evan's first birthday. Mom made a wonderful dinner! We had cake and then went out for ice cream. Evan played in his cake some but I had David take the pictures and I don't have them yet. He enjoyed all his birthday gifts and the attention he got! We mainly just hung out and enjoyed everyone's company. The Miller (my Mom's side) Family reunion was the 28th. It was great seeing my Mom's siblings. Some of them I only see once every year or so. We had a nice turnout. There was a ton of food at lunch and the evening found us at my parents for homemade ice cream and desserts. We left PA on Monday the 30th to head to the Outer Banks of NC. We met up with Justin's parents and his stepdad's family. Unfortunately, I didn't get one single picture of the house we stayed at and very few pictures of anything else! What can I say, it's hard to juggle a camera and all the things that a baby needs! The house was a beautiful 5 bedroom house in Duck, NC. We were a half a mile from the Sound and the ocean. If you went out on the top floor porch you could see both bodies of water. We took Evan to the beach, but he wasn't overly fond of it. Most of the time we just stayed poolside and enjoyed the water and sun there. Evan flew back with Justin's parents due to several physical issues. We felt it would be better if he didn't have to stay in a car seat for 15 hours. He did fairly well with the flights. Since we have been back we have had several appointments and a wedding which is why I am just now getting a chance to blog. Evan had his one year check up this past Tuesday. He weighed 21 lbs. and is 31 inches long. He had to get three immunization and two finger pricks. The doctor said he looks great and is very healthy despite being a little small in weight. He took his first alone steps this past Friday and now he is walking across the room by himself! It is so cute to watch him see something he wants then think about it before walking to where it is. He climbs onto the couch and recliner by himself and is finally learning to get down back end first. The first few times it was a head dive off onto the floor! He is still the happiest little man in the world. Laughing and smiling and trying so hard to talk. He is almost off formula now and is completely off baby food. He keeps us laughing and busy! We love being parents!

It's hard to believe that on June 24 at 7:32pm Evan will officially be 1 year old. It has been one of the most amazing years of our lives! No matter how much you prepare or how many books you read, you can never be fully ready for the emotions and responsibility that begin the moment your child enters this world. We love being parents and hope God blesses us with a few more children. Since we are heading to PA tomorrow and will be there for a week I decided to post this a little early. We are then vacationing in the Outer Banks with Justin's parents on the way back to FL. All this to say that even though I have good intentions I probably won't blog while I'm gone.

Reflections of Father's Day

Growing up in a Christian home I took for granted what it meant to have a Christian Dad. It has only been in the last few years that I have come to realize the impact a father has on his family. The legacy he leaves behind, good or bad. He has been given an incredibly big job. That of leadership of his family. My first memory involves my Dad. While some (including Dad and I when we talk about it) may think it's funny, but it has stuck in my mind all these years. When I was 15 months old David (my brother) was born. I guess I didn't handle switching to a big girl bed very well. I don't remember that part of it. The part I do remember is where Dad took me down to the kitchen every night and we sat in a wooden kitchen chair by the heat register and I would get a spanking for not staying in my bed. I don't remember the pain of the spanking. What I do remember is Dad crying and explaining to me that this hurt him more than it did me and he did it because he loved me. I didn't understand it then, but I do now. Boy do I get it now! The thing is he really meant it! There were so few (only once in fact and that has been apologized for and forgiven) times when I was punished unfairly or unlovingly. I can't begin to explain how grateful I am to have a Dad who loving disciplined me even if it wasn't the popular thing to do! Dad had a wonderful example in my Grandpa Slagenweit who went to his Eternal reward 11 years ago. Grandpa was one of those guys who didn't say a lot but when he did you would be wise to listen to what he said. He could correct you with on soft spoken "Now sir". Dad, thanks for your guidance and love over the years! I know I don't tell you nearly enough, but I love you!

Evan and I have been blessed beyond measure to have Justin as the leader of our home. I couldn't ask for a better husband and Evan couldn't ask for a better Daddy! Nothing melts my heart more than when I hear Justin and Evan giggling in the next room or watch them play together. Being first time parents we were both apprehensive . We wanted to be so careful that we always disciplined in love and never said anything harsh. Justin was very afraid of how he might react. Justin has grown so much spiritually over the past few years and I am so proud of who he has become. I know that he will be an awesome father. How, simply because he puts Christ first and seeks God's wisdom for everything he does. Justin, I just want you to know that today and always I love you. You are a great leader and I am blessed to be your wife. Evan and any other children God may bless us with will be privileged to have you as their Daddy! I love you Sweetheart!

The world today puts so little value in men as husbands and fathers. In TV shows they are degraded and made to look stupid. It's always bothered me that men are given such a bad rap. They have the greatest God given responsibility of all! It's hard enough to fulfill that responsibility without the world telling them they are nothing. God help us to pray for father's as they lead their families!

While we were in Hobe Sound we asked Uncle Jonathan to cut Evan's hair. To say the least Evan does not like to have his hair cut! I would post the video, but it is very loud. Evan cried the entire time! He looked so much better once his hair was cut. It's needed it for some time now, but I really wanted Jonathan to be the one to cut it.

We were able to travel to Hobe Sound this past weekend to visit with everyone. Of course, I got to spend lots of time holding my newest nephew. What a sweetheart! Jay and Tonya are doing such a great job with him. He's a really good baby. Evan was very fascinated with Tyler as long as Mommy (me) wasn't holding him. We stayed with my Aunt Faye's family and had a fabulous time of food and fun. I mention food because anyone who knows my family knows that we like to eat and when we get together there is an abundance of food. Friday evening we had a mini party for Uncle John who turned 50 earlier in the week. It was also was for Janette who graduated from 8th grade. Janelle and Janette both gave up there rooms for Evan and us. Thank you girls for being so sweet and helping us keep an eye on Evan! Also, thanks to Aunt Faye and Uncle Tommy for opening your beautiful home to us! We really had a wonderful time. Unfortunately I didn't get to many pictures of the rest of the family. I always have good intentions and then forget to get the camera out!

I thought I'd post a few pics of our visit with Jan and April as well as Evan's first "playdate". The first pic is of Evan and Jan. Jan is Cheryl's first cousin. The second pic is of April, Jan's daughter, and Evan. We had a great time visiting with them. They also brought Evan some very nice presents for his birthday. I'll post more pics of that later. Also, this past month Evan had his first playdate. Graham is the grandson of one of Cheryl's friends. They had a good time playing together. Graham is four months younger than Evan.

This is going to be a quick post as I have a million and one things that need to be done. We are leaving tomorrow for Hobe Sound to see the newest addition to the Slagenweit family. I can't wait to see Tyler! I love being an Aunt! Evan is doing wonderful! He is such a little ham. When we take him to the store he flirts and charms everyone who talks to him (which is pretty much everyone who passes us!). He laughs so much and keeps us laughing. The videos are one of him laughing at an AFV video. I had put him in his highchair for a snack and this clip caught his attention. Since we have DVR we rewinded it about 7 times. The video clip is from the 6th time and he wasn't cracking up as much as the first few times. The second clip is of his Daddy making "Donald Duck getting out of the shower" noises!:) Don't exactly know what that is but Evan thought it was hilarious! I will post more after we get back from the weekend. We had a great visit with some of Justin's family this past week so I will also post pictures from that.

We had a very slow Memorial day weekend. On Monday we had a cookout at my in-laws. We had a delicious meal and of course Evan enjoyed time in the pool. Evan stayed the night with them Sunday because I was feeling very poorly. Every time he sees a pool he wants to get in! He has been sleeping and eating a lot better lately. We are so thankful for both!

I can hardly believe it, but Evan will be 11 months old tomorrow! It seems like yesterday that we were looking at him for the first time! He is growing so much. He's very tall and we think he weighs about 20 pounds now. He is eating regular table food and loving it! He loves chicken and any kind of potatoes (sweet or white). We're still working on the green veggies. Of course he still love his Nilla wafers and club crackers for snack. Since I last posted we took him off all medication again. For some reason the antacids act as an appetite suppresant for Evan. It doesn't make sense to the Dr. or to us. So far his reflux has stayed in check. We're praying it will continue to do so and he'll not need any further treatment for it. He is trying to walk which has resulted in some bruises. He is such a happy little guy! We have learned that Evan loves water. Well, actually we've know it since he was little. Even when he was a newborn he loved to have his bath and hair washed. Since we live in FL there are pools at basically every home. I am determined to teach Evan how to swim while he still has no fear of the water. We have been working on completely submerging him. He does really well as you can see. A little disoriented when he first comes up, but not freaking out. He has even started kicking his legs as if he's starting to understand that's how to move in the water.

A Mother is...

A Mother is someone who loves us no matter what. Someone who is always there, just a phone call away. Someone who shares our joy and cries with us over our sorrows. A Mother is someone who loves us so much she is willing to correct and discipline us when we need it. A Mother is the glue that holds a family together.
Ever since I was old enough to remember, when you asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I would say "a Mom". As of ten months ago that dream became a reality. Being a Mom is everything I dreamed it would be and more. I can't begin to put into words the emotion that comes with being a mom. The love that I feel is beyond amazing! It is such a great privilege and responsibility that God has given Mother's. I pray daily that God would give me the strength and wisdom to be the Mother I need to be.
Growing up I had some awesome examples to follow. The first being my Mom. The older I get the more I realize how blessed I am to have my Mom. In the past few years with all her physical trials I have tried to never take one moment for granted. I've always said if I can be half the woman my Mom is I would be happy. Mom is somewhat quiet with such incredible strength. She has always been there for her family and that's no easy task with four kids! I have never heard her complain even when I know things have been tough for her. She truly lives her faith. It is evident in her everyday life. Today I can honestly say she is one of my best friends. Thank you Mom for your example and unconditional love! Thank you for putting God first and living your faith for all to see! I love you!

It has been another busy week and a half here! I had several dozen medical charts to review, summarize and type up. On top of that Evan was teething and ran a fever for three and a half days. We took him to the pediatrician on Thursday afternoon due to the consistent fevers and also he was barely eating at all. Evan has gained a little weight since our last appointment which is a good thing. The doctor said that if he wasn't eating any better by today then we would set up a GI consult. I haven't set up the appointment yet, but hopefully they can see him sometime in the next week. If any of you Mom's out there have any suggestions as to how to interest him in eating I'm open to suggestions! He could care less about eating even if he's gone all night without anything. Now that his fever is gone he is back to his playful happy little self. He is really trying to walk. It's so cute to watch him! He's getting more brave at letting go of whatever he's holding onto and venturing out. He's gotten very talkative lately. When we get him from his nap he jabbers for a long time. He still says dada, mama and nana. I'll try and post a little video of him later. It's turned sideways or I would post it now. I have to try and rotate it or re-video it.

5. SLEEP!! (Amen!)

1.Make sure my Mom never had to work again!!

I'm sure there are a million and one other things, but it would take forever to list them all!

Nine Month Check Up

This is several days late due to the exhaustion that followed Evan's 9 month check up. Tuesday we were at the pedi for a better portion of the morning. So his stats are: 18lbs 14 ozs, 30 in long and healthy. Due to the fact he only gained two pounds since his 6 month check up we are going to switch his reflux med from Axid to Prilosec. My thinking is that Evan is probably never going to be a "chubby" baby. He is very healthy so that is not an issue. Hopefully, we can get him eating a little more with the new medication. It tastes awful! He gags every time I give it to him. I called the pharmacy this morning and they said to bring it in and they would flavor it. They didn't originally because they weren't sure they could since it was a compounded drug. Sometimes it affects the stability of the drug. He got one vaccination this time. He did really good with that, but when it came time for the finger prick, that was a different story. They needed to check his hemoglobin and unfortunately had to do it twice. It was pretty high for his age. We will be checking it again in a month. My family is very curious about it. For those of you who don't know my Mom has polycythemia vera. I won't get into it now, but it is a rare blood disease. It is not supposed to be genetic, but the support groups say that most have second and third generation issues.
Anyway, he had a really rough night Tuesday and all day and night Wednesday. Poor thing just cried most of the night Wednesday. Last night he crashed. I put him to bed at 9pm and we didn't hear a thing out of him until 8:20am. I woke up several times and he was sleeping very peacefully. Thank the Lord! He is in good spirits today. Laughing at most everything his Daddy does! He pulls himself up very easily now and walks behind his truck that has wheels. Yesterday he tried to venture out by himself. Of course he fell flat, but he got right back up and tried again. I don't have any new pics to post, but I will get some this weekend and post.

Nine Months

Evan turned nine months old on March 24. We just had his pictures taken today as well as a few family pictures. He looked so cute in his little sailor outfit. We snapped these shots when we got home. Daddy and Evan

Evan has learned how to pull himself to a standing position now. Also, if he is holding onto something with wheels (like this tonka truck) he walks with it. I have a feeling it won't be long before he abandons the truck and walks on his own! AAAHHHH! He's growing up way too fast!
"Cheese" He was so ready for his nap. He did a really great job at the photo shoot though. He seems to like the camera!
Just a side note for my family: He slept through the night last night so we think it was the medication keeping him up. We are giving it to him in the morning now.

Just in case you didn't get a chance to look at the link to the blog I posted below: Tricia had her double lung transplant last night. It will be a long road to recovery and she isn't out of the woods yet. The next few days and weeks will be trying not only on Tricia but the family as well. Can't explain how drawn to this family I feel and it seems everyone who reads the blog feels the same. Such and incredible family!

I know this post is a week late, but figured better late than never! Good Friday we took Evan to the pool for the first time. Before we would just stick his feet in. He loved it! He slashed and laughed. Since we live in a primarily older community the old folks are at the pool a lot. They got a kick out of him and he loved the attention. We didn't try completely putting him under water this time, but I really don't think he would have minded. I've been working on it in the bath tub for the past several months. Evan and I both got a stomach bug on Saturday. Our Easter was a little bummy since both of us only got three hours of sleep the night before and he had spent most of the night crying. It's the first time he's gotten sick. Our next door neighbor had it and we were at their house without realizing that she had been sick. Even though we didn't make it to church I dressed Evan up in his Easter outfit from my Mom. We didn't get any pictures though. He just wasn't in the mood to have his picture taken. I'll get pictures of him in it up this week.

I was thinking this past week about the significance of Easter for Christians. My sister had posted the following blog about my nephew's view of the crucifixion.
"1. Philip has been telling him the story of the crucifixion and yesterday as we were laying down to take our afternoon nap he asked me to tell him. I gave a very shortened version and we talked about how terrible the suffering was that Jesus went through. (Of course in his mind if he had been there he would have "poked" Pilate and the bad soldiers and it would have never happened.) I made the statement that what Jesus had to go through was awful and I didn't even like to think about it. Allan asked me why I didn't like to think about and I told him in made me sad because it was so terrible. He replied that I shouldn't feel that way because when Jesus suffered "he conquered death" and that wasn't sad. As he lay sleeping I though it really is true, instead of focusing on the awfulness of the crucifixion I should focus on what was accomplished by it. Death was conquered and I'm so very thankful."
Easter has not been the same for me since I watched The Passion. The visualization of what Christ may have gone through for my sin changed me. I am so very thankful for a loving Saviour who paid the ultimate price! Allan is right, the fact that Jesus rose from the grave and conquered death gives us reason to not be sad. I don't every want to forget what was accomplished by Christ hanging on the cross or His resurrection. Happy belated Easter!

I'm Back!

I apologize for the lack of blogging the past few weeks! Justin's and my computer both decided to be obnoxious at the same time. It was crazy considering we're on the computer for hours every day. Justin works from his computer so it's a much bigger deal when his computer goes down.
Justin has been busy setting up the new shopping center in Memphis, TN and finishing out the paperwork for the shopping center that was sold here in FL. I am going to be helping with the TN center which I am really looking forward to. I worked with my mother-in-law this past month auditing a doctor. As funny as it may sound I actually loved it! The majority of work was going through dozens of medical charts, writing reviews of the visits and making sure it was billed under the proper code.
Evan is doing great! Sleeping 11-12 hours at night and taking 2 naps a day. When he is up he wants to be exploring. He used to love his exersaucer, but now gets frustrated because he wants to be down crawling around. It is so funny the things he likes to play with! We have a room full of brightly colored toys and he wants the box his Easter outfits came in! Thanks for the adorable outfits, Mom and also the box (he is fascinated with it)! He still just has the four front teeth. The past day or two he has really started drooling again and chewing on everything in sight. We are wondering if he will get the next four as close together as he got the last ones. Evan was having trouble eating again so the pediatrician put him back on the reflux medication which is helping. We will try and wean him off it again after Evan turns a year old.
Now that I have a computer that is working I will update more often!

Our friends Rob and Steph came over last Friday evening for pizza and games. Their son Aiden is 18 months old. The boys played together pretty well. Aiden is such a sweet boy. He would bring toys for Evan to play with. After the boys went to bed we had a great time playing MadGab. I'm not very good at it and the rest of them had fun laughing at my lack of catching on! You know when something is right there and you don't see it? That was me!

Anniversary trip

We had an awesome time in Orlando and came back feeling very relaxed. We were both able to catch up on some much needed sleep! We had a Jacuzzi suite which was wonderful! We checked in on Thursday and then went into Downtown Disney to pick up our tickets for the show that night. After eating dinner we headed back to Disney and wondered around until the show started. It was great as usual! There were four little Chinese girls who were absolutely adorable! They were only five or six and wow, were they ever good. They had what looked like some kind yo yo on a string and they would throw them in the air, do back flips and all kinds of other gymnastics then catch them on the string again. Friday we slept in, wondered around Orlando, ate, watched a movie and generally just took it easy. We were both ready to come home on Saturday, but it was a great trip!
Evan did great staying with Grandma and Grandpa White. He slept all night for them and was his usual charming self. He officially has four teeth now. The top left front tooth came through while we were gone. He loves chewing on Nilla wafers and the little Gerber puffs. Being gone from him for two days brought into perspective how big he is getting! Sometimes when we are here with him all day every day we don't notice how much he has grown until someone mentions it. The picture with his shoes may need some explaining. Evan hates shoes! Normally, when we stand him like that he wants to walk everywhere! Not so when he has shoes on! We could not get him to take one step. He just stood there. I bought them because they are so cute and he needed a pair of dressy shoes. It was like he had two blocks on his feet. I'll try and get a video of him "crawling" (it's actually half crawl/half drag) on here later. He is quite speedy and gets where he wants to go!

Early Valentine and Anniversary Gift

My wonderful husband came home today with these beautiful roses, cards and gift card for a day at the spa! Since Valetine's day and our anniversary are so close together we usually celebrate both at the same time. Next week we are going to Orlando for two days while Evan stays with Grandma and Grandpa White. While there we are going to a Cirque De Soleil show. I thought that was my gift this year so I was very surprised when the doorbell rang and there stood Justin with the flowers! He is such an awesome husband and he spoils me terribly! I love you Sweetheart!!

Hobe Sound Visit

This weekend we made a trip over to Hobe Sound, FL to visit my family there. Grandma Miller had come down with a group from PA for Seabreeze camp meeting. We had a wonderful time visiting! It was the first time she had met Evan. We stayed with my brother Jonathan and his beautiful wife Tonya. On Saturday we had a family get together at my Aunt Faye's. Then on Sunday we were able to attend the Seabreeze camp services as well as spend lunch and the afternoon with the Bailey's (Tonya's family). Other than not getting much sleep due to the fact that we stayed up talking way to long (Thanks Jay and Tonya, it was a really good conversation!:)) and Evan cutting teeth we had a fabulous weekend. Evan got one of his bottom teeth the day before we left so he was feeling a little ouchy. He truly loved all the attention he got especially from Janelle, Janette, Becca and Breann.

Super Bowl and Thumb Sucking!

We were able to spend Sunday with some great friends who we hadn't seen in quite some time. We got really close to Rob and Steph when Justin and I first started dating. They got married ten months before we did and had Aiden ten months before we had Evan. We went to their house to "watch" the Super Bowl. Needless to say, we didn't see too much of the game. We had such a great time just talking and eating. We did see the fourth quarter which was the best part of the game anyway. We were all glad the NY Giants won! Aiden was so cute! It was neat to see what Evan will be doing in ten months.

I was finally able to get a little video of Evan "talking"! Every time I got the camera out this week he would immediately get camera shy and not say a word! He didn't really say dadada or mamama like he normally does, but I thought you guys would enjoy this anyway. He has just started wrinkling his nose like he did in the video. Yesterday was my mom's birthday. Happy birthday Mom! Wish so much I could have been there to cook your favorite meal for you like you did for us all those years! We love you! Also, I want to wish my brother-in-law Adam a happy birthday and a great year ahead!

Well, I really don't have anything new to post other than that Evan has slept for 11 hours straight the past two nights! Mommy is more than a little grateful for the extra hours of sleep it affords her. I don't have any new pictures this week due to the fact that my camera battery is dead and I keep forgetting to put it on the charger!

I know it's a few days late, but I wanted to wish my Dad a very happy birthday! His birthday was Saturday. We hope you had a great day! We love you!

Also, Evan had his 6 month check-up last week. Weighing in at 16lbs 14ozs and measuring 27 and a half inches the doctor was pleased. He had another round of immunizations, so along with the teeth he's trying to cut we had a few not so happy days. At least he didn't. He just wanted to be held and loved on which Mommy didn't mind. I can't believe how fast time is going and I know before long cuddling with Mommy will not be a priority. He has been doing so great with eating now that we are decreasing the meds. Thank the Lord! He still isn't crawling. He would rather be up walking if you hold his hands. He got a few "walker" toys for Christmas which he likes. He "talks" quite a bit now to. He's saying mum, mum, mum and da, da, da but, I don't really think he knows it yet. The weather has been beautiful; lately so Evan and I are taking daily walks. He enjoys being outdoors and doesn't like to go back inside. We took him to the pool the other day and got his feet wet. He didn't seem to mind the cooler water and I'd really like to get him in fully in the next couple of weeks. One of our friends who has a little one about 9 months older than Evan has agreed to help us teach him how to swim.

Okay, this post is primarily for my dear Dad and brothers. Those of you who are not Penn State fans just don't look or read this post! This outfit was a gift from Pappy and since it has been freezing (literally) here in Fl the past few days Evan has had a chance to wear it. Those of you who know my Dad and brothers know what avid Penn State fans they are. David and Jay, you know you're going to have to get your little ones an outfit like this! I've got to admit that I like to watch a little football now and then so I always cheer for Penn State when they play. Being in FL hasn't really changed the teams I cheer for. Well, except I am now a Tampa Bay Bucs fan instead of the Steelers! Go Bucs! Sorry guys! As Great-Grandma Slagenweit used to say, "We love you bunches and bunches"!!

Welcome to 2008! What an incredible year has just gone by! We were able to go to my parents December 15 and returned to FL December 24. We had such a wonderful time (as usual:))! There was much laughter, hollering (from the three little ones!) and eating my mom's awesome cooking! I think we gain 10 pounds every time we visit. To the right is my Mom and Dad.

Above is the three cousins. L-R: Allan, Daniel and Evan. Next year Jay and Tonya's little one will be in on the fun! It was crazy trying to get all three to look and smile at the camera at the same time!

For Christmas I got a new bedspread and new decorations for our bedroom. The picture above and the one below to the right is the somewhat finished product. I love it! The top picture is of Evan playing with the drum's Aunt MaryLou got for him. He really enjoys banging on them and I have discovered they are great for helping him sit up.

I had told my Mom how much Evan likes to bounce and so for Christmas she got him this seat that hangs in the door. He has had so much fun playing in it. He laughs and bounces as hard as it will let him!

The picture of Evan to the right was taken during our gift exchange. Aunt Tonya and Uncle Jay got him this hat (which Mommy promptly placed on his head because it is SO cute!) with a matching sweater. Jay shaving Justin's head. Yes, you read that correctly! My husband is now hairless. He's been wanting to do it for awhile and so he had Jay take care of it while we were up. (It actually doesn't look to bad!) I'll have to post some of what he looks like now that his head is shaved.

I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. He is doing great. He cut his first tooth before we went to PA and is working on three more. He hasn't been as fussy as I expected him to be. He laughs and smiles all the time and loves to just watch his surroundings. He has also decided he really likes food. Well, all except green beans! Oh the faces he makes!:) I trust each of you had a very merry Christmas and a great start to the new year!

My Incredible Husband!

So, for those of you ladies who think your husband is the best in the world, you'll just have to bear with me here. God has truly blessed me with the most incredible husband in the world. When I think back to May of 2003 and signing up on eHarmony.com I had no idea what was in store for me. Then when God brought Justin across my path I started getting an idea. I had always prayed that I would have a marriage like my Grandma and Grandpa Slagenweit. Let me explain, after 50 plus years of marriage they were still "newlyweds". As in love or more in love than the day they got married. No, Justin and I are not at 50 years yet, but it has truly been the happiest years of my life. That being said, I have had the best life in the world! Justin has taken the God given responsibility of being the leader of our home and I am SO thankful for that. I know it isn't always the easiest job loving me, but never once has he done anything but love me unconditionally. He lets me know that on a daily and even hourly basis some days. So why am I bragging on him now. Well, for one I don't do it enough and two I was reminded yet again how awesome he is. It has been a pretty sleepless few weeks with Evan due to teething, tummy pain, etc. As much as I try not to get grumpy with the lack of sleep it unfortunately comes out sometimes. Today, he sent me to the Spa for the afternoon for some serious relaxing. A facial, massage and sauna were among the things on the agenda. He knows how much I enjoy this! Mind you, he kept a teething Evan with him! It was while I was there that I thanked God once again for sending Justin into my life. Thank you God for blessing my life with this wonderful man! Thank you Justin for loving me! I love you Sweetheart!!

Busy Week!

Wow! Finally a chance to get a little caught up! It has been an exceptionally busy week, but a very good one. Justin had surgery on Tuesday to have a wisdom tooth removed. He was out of commission for a few days. In fact, he doesn't even remember Tuesday! (Ask him about the guy in the next room!:) He told me the story 8 times on Tuesday!) He has been working hard on finishing his step-dad's book before our trip north. Evan is doing great. He had a eating check up on Wednesday and weighed 15lbs and 6ozs. So, he has gained a pound in a month. Not to bad in Mommy's opinion! The last time we increased the medication he really slacked off in eating. Last week he had gotten to the point where he couldn't care less about eating at all. I decided to back the medication off and he seems to be doing much better. It seemed like it was working as an appetite suppressant. He is laughing at everything now and becoming Daddy's boy. He loves to just watch Justin whether it's talking, eating, shaving, etc. He is also rolling all over! The other day I had him on his activity gym so I could do some work in the kitchen and when I checked on him he had rolled to his exersaucer! I have been busy cleaning, finishing my Christmas shopping and taking care of my boys with a swimming lesson thrown in here and there. We are leaving for PA next Saturday so I wanted to have everything in order before we left. This week I can wrap presents, finish Christmas cards and pack. Not to bad! We had our family Christmas pictures taken as well as Evan's 5 month pictures. First time driving! (Don't worry we are just sitting in our driveway!:)) This was Thanksgiving day and we were getting ready to go to Grandma and Grandpa White's house. We spent the day with them just hanging out. It was actually a little cool which was nice for this northern girl. I get very nostalgic and homesick this time of year. Greetings from the sunny south! Much to my dismay, I received a phone call yesterday morning from my mom saying it was snowing there! Then in the afternoon April so graciously sent pictures with the caption "Want to build a snowman?". It's times like these that I really miss living up north! I always love the first snow of the season and wow, what a ton of memories come flooding back! Hopefully, when we go to Mom and Dad's next month there will be snow. After all, Evan needs to make his first snow angel. It has been a little cooler here in FL which I am very thankful for. It has been a busy month for us so far. Justin has been working on his step dad's book and trying to keep up with the shopping centers. It looks like he will be getting another center in TN come the middle of December. Of course, on top of all that he makes time to help me around the house and keeps Evan entertained. Evan thinks his Daddy is the greatest and I whole heartedly agree! I thank God daily for such a wonderful husband! Evan is doing well and starting to sleep better now that the growth spurt has subsided a little. We did end up having to switch formulas again. He just wouldn't take the hypoallergenic formula. Believe me, I don't think I would have either! It was awful smelling and apparently Evan didn't think it tasted so great either! He is now rolling from back to tummy as well as tummy to back. His favorite position is standing up. He prefers to be in his exersaucer or standing on Daddy's lap. He does sit up although falls over quite quickly due to the fact that he tries to stand. He finds falling over very funny! He is ALL boy! He laughs so much! I think he must have his mother's laugh gene because it sure doesn't take much to make him laugh. For some reason, one look at Grandpa White never fails to make him giggle. Not sure what that's about!:) We are spending Thanksgiving with Justin's family. I get to do some of the cooking which I really enjoy. This year I'm making stuffing, bread pudding, jello salad and mashed potatoes. I have got nearly all my Christmas shopping done. I don't know what I would do if there was no Internet as that is how I did the majority of my shopping this year. Talk about convenience for someone who despises shopping!

Evan had his four month two week check up today and (drum roll please) he weighs 14lbs 5ozs! We're finally making progress! He is 26 inches long so we are way ahead in length. The doctor switched his formula again to Similac Alimentum. This is due to the fact that since we switched formula last time Evan has had diarrhea every time he goes. This formula is lactose free and also the proteins are partially broken down. This should take care of both the reflux and any issues with lactose intolerance. He got 5 immunizations so this picture is a good one of how he has been all day. Okay, well except the fact that when he is awake he is pretty fussy. Other than that he is doing great. We have so much fun with him! Well, I'm having my in-laws for dinner and I need to get the lasagna out of the oven. I'll try and get more pictures up of Evan playing. Sorry, I tried posting a picture with this post, but for some reason it didn't show up!

Early Christmas Present!

Yesterday my early Christmas present was delivered! For Christmas Cheryl (my mother-in-law) got me a new washer and dryer. After a ton of research online I decided to go with this LG set. I've always had a top load washer, but we decided to go with a front load this time as the reviews were the best. I've already done 6 loads of laundry in them (it's amazing how much laundry a little one produces!:)) and love them! They are so much quieter which means I can now start laundry in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. (Yes, I actually did this last night because I couldn't sleep after Evan was up for a bottle!)

Four Months

How time does fly! Evan turned four months old on the 24th. He is doing really well! The formula has made such a huge difference. He is taking about 29 ounces a day now as well as eating a little cereal and bananas. He's not to sure about the cereal yet! The tummy pain is considerably better which we are so thankful for! He is rolling from his tummy to his back now (he loves to do it and then giggles like he's big stuff!:)) and loves to play in his exersaucer. He also has started really laughing. It is the cutest thing! We haven't had him weighed in a while, but he has gained at least a little weight. He's now completely out of newborn sized clothes and into three month size. His next appointment with the pedi is Nov. 7. I am

anxious to see where we're at.

Hello! Sorry it has been so long since we posted new pictures and updated the blog! (Dad and Mom, the bottom picture is the one I told you about last week!:)) We were in Hobe Sound last weekend visiting my brother Jonathan and his lovely wife Tonya. We had an awesome time! Thanks you guys for opening up your home, helping with Evan and the wonderful food! (Tonya, you are a great cook!) We love you and can't wait to get together again! While we were there we were able to see the extended family as well. Thanks to my aunts and cousins for helping with Evan and keeping him entertained. We found out that Evan is quite a little flirt! He just adored his girl cousins and was being quite the little charmer! Justin picked up a very bad case of the flu on Friday (10/5) and passed it to me this past weekend! So far Evan hasn't showed any signs of getting it. We had a huge answer to prayer this past week in the form of a new formula! We were kind of at wits end with Evan's reflux as I didn't want to give him any more medication than what we were already giving him. When I called the doctor last Thursday (10/4) we discussed changing the formula and also the possibility of Evan being lactose intolerant. He suggested trying Enfamil Gentlease which is thicker (because it is made for reflux babies) and also has only one forth of the lactose that the rest of the formulas have. So on Friday we switched and so far he is doing great with it. He has been taking 26-28 ounces a day instead of 22-24 ounces and hasn't fought us nearly as much. We are to give it a couple of weeks and if things keep improving we will leave him on that. Otherwise, we will switch him to a completely lactose free formula. The other big news with Evan is we think he is starting to cut teeth! He has been chewing on whatever he can get in his mouth for about two weeks now and drooling like crazy. I finally felt around in his mouth yesterday and you can feel them in his gums. His gums are also starting to get white. Much to my dismay he has discovered he likes to suck his thumb! I had been hoping to avoid this as I was a thumb sucker until I was much older than I should have been!:) I had been pulling his thumb out every time he seemed to be sucking on it, but last weekend in church he was sleeping and I had him covered with a blanket, when I checked on him there he was with his little thumb in his mouth. The picture on the bottom is one I snapped last week when I checked on him during his nap and once again he was sucking his thumb. The only good thing about a thumb instead of a binky is that you can't lose a thumb like you do a binky!

Visit to Orlando

Well, it has been an incredibly busy, but very fun week and it isn't over yet! This past Tuesday Justin, Adam (Justin's brother), Evan and myself went to Orlando to see some of Justin's family. Uncle Gerald and Aunt Donna were down on vacation and Uncle Ron and Aunt Cindy live near Orlando. We met up at the condo were Gerald and Donna were staying and then went out to eat. Afterwards we all went back to the condo to hang out and talk. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed getting to know everyone better. The top picture from right to left is Jennifer (Ron and Cindy's daughter), Gerald, Ron, Cindy holding Evan and Kyle (Christina's boyfriend). The second picture includes Christina (next to Kyle) and Katlyn (Gerald and Donna's daughter). The last picture includes Donna. The only people I missed getting a picture of was Andy (Gerald and Donna's son) and Larissa (Jennifer's daughter). Thank you ladies for entertaining Evan! He loves the attention! Tomorrow we are leaving for a weekend with my family in Hobe Sound. We should get to my brother's mid afternoon and will return on Monday. Of course I will post pictures of that when we get back. Just a quick update on Evan, we switched formulas today to see if that will help. In the past week he has started with the really bad tummy pain and gas again. We have such a hard time getting him to eat when he is in pain and I can't blame him because I don't want to eat when I don't feel good. We're praying the new formula will help and hopefully we can start getting him off some of the medication. Other than the tummy pain he is smiling and laughing all the time. He has such a cute personality and is very sociable! Don't know where he gets that from!:)

Three Months Old!

Evan turned three months old September 24 which is incredibly hard to believe! He is such a little charmer and has a very cute personality. We were out to eat and he was cooing and smiling at everyone that walked by him! Yesterday he laughed out loud for the first time! I figured it would be soon and as I was getting him dressed for the day he looked at me and giggled. Of course, when I got Daddy he stopped and just looked at us grinning. Sometimes I think he knows too much already! It's so amazing how he changes daily. His acid reflux is about the same. We now have him on Maalox every feeding and Axid twice a day. He isn't having the pain like he had been, but he still doesn't want to eat much. He sleeps now from 9-10PM until 7AM. We have also been successful at getting him to take three daytime naps. He loves to play and be sitting up when he is awake. We have also discovered he loves being outside. Since we live in Florida we hadn't taken him out much due to the heat. It is finally cooling down enough to take him for walks.
